This project envisages the development of a spatial construction which recalls anatomic structure of the individual patient using 3D printing of materials that are equivalent to soft and bone tissues, and in which cavities are filled with a radiation sensitive polymer gel (3D phantom). Polymerized gels will be used for the evaluation of doses and dose distribution in the phantom after RT. The results of experimental dose measurements will be compared with those recalled from the treatment planning system and used for patient‘s dose controlling and verification. This will enable individualized dose delivery to patient, thus increasing the efficiency of the treatment and reducing total dose to the tumour adjacent organs and unnecessary exposure to the rest of the body. The results of physical dosimetry will be used for prediction of patient‘s risk for late tissue effects (deterministic effects) as well as for stochastic effects (secondary cancer induction).
