Project description:

The aim of the project is to improve the ability of students of applied mathematics study programm to apply mathematical methods in the social sciences, to develop interdisciplinarity, to foster the exchange of scientific ideas between different scientific disciplines, to promote practical scientific activity and interdisciplinary scientific communication, and to encourage interdisciplinary cooperation. The project’s purpose reflects the global trends towards interdisciplinarity in science and studies and in the training of future professionals and scientists. The purpose of the project is fulfilled through the student’s research project “Investigation of factors affecting the academic success of first year students of engineering study programmes at Lithuanian universities”. The aim of the study is to identify the factors influencing the academic success of first-year engineering students and to provide recommendations for improving the adjustment of first-year engineering students to their studies and for the prevention of dropping out of studies.
