The results of the 1st stage of the general admissions to Lithuanian universities and colleges have been announced. As in previous years, Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) is the second-most desired study institution in Lithuania among the prospective students. 1,802 applicants have indicated a KTU study programme as their first priority; this is the second result in Lithuania, after Vilnius University.

Also, as in previous years, these two universities are the most popular among the applicants with the highest school-leaving examination scores.

KTU Software Systems for several years in the row is the most populous state-funded study programme among Lithuanian universities: 319 prospective students have been invited to study programming for free at KTU. Informatics Engineering, Multimedia Technologies, Aviation Engineering and Civil Engineering remain among the most popular first choices of the applicants.

Comparing to the last year, the popularity of Mechanical Engineering study programme has grown by 60 percent, of Industrial Design Engineering – by 39 percent and of Aviation Engineering – by 27 percent.

“We are among the leaders in Lithuania – results show that KTU is a priority choice for many strong applicants. Of course, the general admissions results this year are affected by the toughened requirements for the applicants – higher competition score and the minimal score of mathematics exam was needed to enter a university – but we have expected this. Higher requirements for applicants means better students, and we support the trend of strengthening the study quality”, says Kristina Ukvalbergienė, KTU Vice-Rector for Studies ad interim.

Today is the last day to sign the contract with the University; the second stage of General Admissions will commence tomorrow, 1 August.

If you are a citizen of a European Union country or of a country of European Economic Area (EEA), you are eligible to apply for state-funded undergraduate studies and to participate in the second stage of the general admissions to Lithuanian universities and colleges.
